SIP Phone Systems

Asterisk Consulting offer our clients the widest range of in-depth Asterisk and VoIP systems throughout the UK and Ireland. VoIP phones are generally connected to an IP phone system using LAN (Local Area Network) or the Internet. Most IP phone systems are using SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), no matter if those are hardware and software telephones. The use of an IP PBX phone system usually requires you to use VoIP telephones.

SIP Phone Systems

SIP phone systems work in conjunction with several other application layer protocols that identify and carry the relevant session media. Media identification and negotiation is achieved with the Session Description Protocol (SDP). For the transmission of media streams (voice, video) SIP phone sytems typically employ the Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) or Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP). For secure transmissions of SIP messages, the protocol may be encrypted with Transport Layer Security (TLS).

Based on SIP (Session Initiated Protocol) a SIP phone is a SIP service that provides a free SIP-based VoIP network. To use SIP phone you need either a SIP phone adapter or softphone software and a broadband Internet connection. To make free in-network (SIP to SIP) calls, both sides of the call must have a SIP phone adapter or softphone. To make inexpensive calls to non-SIP phones (PSTN), you will need SIP minutes.

SIP Trunking

SIP trunking is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and streaming media service based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) by which Internet telephony service providers (ITSPs) deliver telephone services and unified communications to customers equipped with SIP-based private branch exchange (IP PBX) and Unified Communications facilities. Most Unified Communications software applications provide voice, video, and other streaming media applications such as desktop sharing, web conferencing, and shared whiteboard.
